Some Streator residents got an unexpected treat in the mail this week—two sewer and garbage bills for the price of one! Before you panic, rest assured: the city says it was just a printing error. Only one payment is needed… unless you really love clean streets and want to chip in extra.

According to the city’s Facebook post, if you got two, just toss the extra in your recycling bin—assuming it gets picked up on time.

We’ve all hit “print” twice by mistake, but usually it’s not on something that says “Amount Due” in bold letters. No harm done, though—unless you were already teetering on the edge of paying your bills with couch change and leftover raffle tickets.

It’s moments like these that remind us: government is run by humans. And those humans have printers. And sometimes those printers have a mind of their own.

So don’t worry, Streator. You’re not being double-charged. You’re just getting double the paperwork… for free!
