STREATOR — What started as a weekend of fun, music, and sticky fingers has turned into a full-blown sno cone standoff—and it’s not over yet.

Park Fest is in full swing, but all eyes aren’t on the stage—they’re on a blue trailer parked in the heart of the action. That trailer, branded as Tropical Sno, rolled in from out of town and has been scooping flavored ice to unsuspecting festgoers since Friday. And according to the real Tropical Sno of Streator, it’s an act of frosty deception.

“Streator Tropical Sno is NOT associated with the blue trailer Tropical Sno set up at Parkfest,” the hometown stand posted to Facebook, complete with a graphic that basically yelled, Don’t Be Fooled.

Councilman Scott Scheuer quickly joined the battle, sharing the post and calling on Streatorites to support the real deal at 801 West Main Street. He noted the blue trailer hails from “that town to the north that we don’t need to mention”—(but if you’ve ever sat in traffic because an entire freight train is inexplicably parked in the middle of a state highway, you know exactly where).

In response, Streator Tropical Sno launched an all-out counteroffensive: gift card raffles, free Dirty Sodas, and a flurry of local support thick enough to rival their frozen lemonade.

Meanwhile, the Ottawa-based trailer remains defiantly parked at Park Fest and is expected to sling sno through Sunday. Some attendees, unaware of the unfolding geopolitical dessert crisis, have already unknowingly consumed enemy ice.

No word yet on whether the trailer has diplomatic immunity or just really good parking timing, but tensions are running high. Streator's stand, for now, remains calm and cool—literally—and urges citizens to stay vigilant and buy local.

One thing is clear: the flavor war isn’t over. And in Streator, loyalty is measured in ounces—and served with a spoon.
