A rather stylish canine is currently on the loose in Streator—and it seems to have no intention of returning to a traditional lifestyle.

According to a report from Streator Animal Control, the dog was first seen strutting through City Park, moving with the confidence of a mayor and the gait of someone who’s definitely late for an espresso meeting at More on Main. Shortly after, a separate sighting came from a sharp-eyed citizen near Streator Unlimited, suggesting the dog might be expanding its territory—or possibly exploring new career opportunities in social services.

📸 This rogue pup is decked out in a black vest and carries the kind of energy you’d expect from a retired K-9 who’s still “in the game.” It doesn’t seem aggressive—just determined, like it has errands.

Authorities say the dog might be shy, but clever. In other words: this is not its first escape.

Eyewitnesses offered the following helpful observations:

“It looked like it was about to audit me.”

“I was halfway through waving before I realized it was a dog.”

“I feel like it’s judging us.”

If you spot this pup, don’t chase. Just report the location to Animal Control and let them handle the negotiations. The dog may respond to gentle voices, cheese cubes, or possibly union rhetoric.

We’ll update this story as it develops. Until then, Streator, keep your eyes open and your leash hand ready—there’s a new boss in town, and it walks on four legs.
