Chamber Sets Streator’s Holiday Shopping Dates

The Streator Chamber of Commerce has posted dates for three holiday shopping events, beginning with a two-day Holiday Open House in November and continuing with Small Business Saturday and December’s Merry on Main.

The Holiday Open House is scheduled for Friday, November 13, from 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Small Business Saturday follows on November 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Chamber says some businesses will also offer extended hours from 5 to 9 p.m. that evening during the Lighted Christmas Parade festivities. Shoppers should check individual businesses for their hours.

The parade, presented by Keeping Christmas Close to Home, steps off on Main Street at 7 p.m. that evening, following the 6:30 p.m. lighting of City Park by Light Up Streator, according to a tentative schedule posted by the City of Streator’s tourism office.

Merry on Main is scheduled for Friday, December 11, from 5 to 8 p.m.

For holiday gift-giving, the Chamber’s Chamber Bucks program offers digital gift cards that can be spent at multiple participating member businesses, including retailers, restaurants, services and entertainment venues.
