Privacy Policy

Last updated October 2026.

This page explains what information The Streator Standard collects when you visit or subscribe, and what we do with it.

If you just read the site

You can read every story without an account. Our publishing platform, Ghost, records basic visit statistics, such as which pages are read and how visitors arrived, so we can see what readers find useful. We don’t sell this information or use it to target ads.

If you subscribe

When you sign up for email updates, we collect your email address and, if you give it, your name. We use them only to send you our stories and occasional notes about the Standard. Ghost records whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked, so we can tell what’s working.

Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also manage or delete your subscription anytime from the Account link at the top of the site.

If you email us

If you send us a tip or a message, we keep your email so we can reply. We don’t publish your name or contact details without your permission, and we don’t share tips with anyone outside the Standard.

Cookies

The site uses a small number of cookies that are needed for subscriptions and sign-in to work. We don’t use advertising cookies.

Who processes your information

Our site and newsletter are hosted by Ghost (Ghost Foundation), which stores subscriber information on our behalf. If we ever offer paid subscriptions, payments would be handled by Stripe, and we would never see your card number.
