Prescription Drug Take Back Set for June 21 at City Park
Streator residents have a safe and easy way to clean out their medicine cabinets this month. A Prescription Drug Take Back Event will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Streator City Park on the 200 block of North Park Street.
This drive-thru event allows people to drop off expired or unwanted prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and even syringes. All items must be placed in a sealed container, and any personal information on labels should be removed or blacked out. Proper disposal is crucial—not just for safety in the home, but also for protecting local water supplies and the environment.
For those unable to attend, the city maintains a permanent drop box in the lobby of the Streator Police Department near the Oak Street entrance. Syringes and sharps must still be sealed before drop-off.
The event is sponsored by Live Well Streator and OSF HealthCare, who remind the public that the small act of proper disposal can save lives—and help keep our community safer and cleaner.
So if you've got half-used bottles or mystery pills collecting dust, this is your sign: clean it out, drop it off, and feel good about it.
