Streator Hosts Christmas in July With Santa, Sales, and Fun
While the North Pole may be thawing out under summer sun, Streator’s holiday spirit is just heating up. The Streator Chamber of Commerce is flipping the calendar with its festive Christmas in July celebration—because why limit twinkly lights and joyful giving to just one season?
This fundraiser and community event will transform Main Street and Westgate Plaza into a summertime winter wonderland on Friday and Saturday July 25th and 26th, featuring:
Food trucks dishing out holiday cheer in the form of tacos, lemonade, and everything in between
Shop local promotions at a dozen+ participating businesses
Heritage Park family fun with games, crafts, and yes, a Santa Claus sighting
Prizes for those shopping their way off the “Naughty List”
Participating Businesses Include:
VanDuzer Jewelers (310 E. Main) – for the nice list sparkle
Refurbished Treasures (306 E. Main) – where old finds new life
The Queen Bee (218 E. Main) – honey, gifts, and more
Three Wishes (317 E. Main) – think boutique magic, not genie lamps
Blue-Eyed Rascal Baking Co. (121 E. Main) – come for the cookies, stay for the coffee
Thread Revival (322 E. Main) – Streator’s answer to fast fashion, but slower and better
Good Morning Good Day Café (417 E. Main) – for a Slovenian-style holiday bite
Trinkets and Treasures (409 E. Main) – because one person’s trinket is another’s treasure
More on Main (317 E. Main) – a must-stop for a meal or mid-shop snack
More of Me (212 E. Main) – handmade gifts and charm galore
Streator House of Jerky (105 Armory Ct., Westgate Plaza) – because jerky is always in season
Dabarkadz Grocery (201 Armory Ct., Westgate Plaza) – Filipino flavors and festive spirit
With more businesses possibly joining in, shoppers are encouraged to stroll downtown, grab a bite, pick up a unique gift, and maybe even win a prize while they're at it.
In a town still learning to balance old soul charm with new energy, events like this show how community and commerce can come together—no sleigh required. The Chamber of Commerce has found a clever way to celebrate local businesses and generate some mid-year magic. It’s a reminder that revitalization doesn’t always need a new building—sometimes, it just needs a Santa suit and a reason to gather.
And while we’re embracing Christmas in July, let’s remember what makes Streator shine brightest: community, creativity, and a Main Street that refuses to quit.
Because in Streator, even summer is better with a little holiday spirit.
