Thanks for Mowing (Mostly)
City reminds residents grass must stay under 6 inches
The City of Streator recently issued a thank-you to everyone keeping their properties maintained this summer—well, almost everyone.
Along with the praise came a reminder: city ordinance requires grass to be kept under 6 inches. Not golf course level, just something short enough that your yard doesn’t double as a prairie preserve.
Code enforcement has already fielded dozens of complaints this season. The worst offenders are easy to spot—just follow the swaying weeds or the trail of critters.
Tall grass invites pests, hurts visibility, and chips away at neighborhood pride. Keeping it cut is a simple way to contribute to the health and appearance of the city.
To those mowing regularly: thank you. To those who aren’t: maybe start. No one wants to be that yard on the block.
Let’s keep it neat, Streator. Six inches isn’t that hard.
